A former social worker, Carolyn has been a freelance writer and editor
for over 30 years. The author of seven books, her articles have
appeared in The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Utne
Reader, Mademoiselle, Harper's Bazaar, Ms., Chicago Tribune, and
Milwaukee Magazine. She has written public relations and advertising
copy for a variety of corporations and nonprofit organizations, and she
has served as a book proposal consultant and/or "book doctor" for over
two hundred books. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the
Department of English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where
she has mentored countless young writers.
